ENERGIZING YOUR HOME
If you're looking for ways to energize your home (and subsequently your life) and get the chi moving, consider introducing living things into your home, like animals (dogs, cats, birds, fish) or healthy potted plants. Bright lights, crystals and mirrors activate chi (be careful with mirror placement though) Add some colour- use colours that  that uplift and inspire you! Moving objects like- windchimes, mobiles, fountains activate chi too...Play around with the positioning of your furniture until it 'feels right'. You may have a heavy piece of furniture that's blocking the chi and just moving it to another position may make all the difference.  CLEAR YOUR CLUTTER!!!! Clear out cupboards, drawers, the stuff you've got behind the door, things you never really liked, things that bring back bad memories. Toss them out, give them away or sell them. Just get rid of them! (It's extremely therapeutic too!) Play around with sounds- music, windchimes- anything that makes a sound you like.  Only hang paintings/pictures that make you feel good. They have a powerful affect on the energy in your home.

MOVING INTO A NEW HOME

(based on Denise Linn's advice in her book 'Sacred Space')

Homes have a consciousness and a personality, they will react to the way they are treated, whether kindly or harshly. So, the first few days in your new home can make all the difference in the years ahead!!

HOUSE-HUNTING
When visiting prospective houses, mentally greet the house. "Hi, my name's......." (or whatever works for you) Obviously there's no need to do this out loud, or the estate agent will think you're slightly odd!
Then listen to the response you get and then imagine yourself and your family living there. Open your heart and your mind and 'feel' the house.

MOVING INTO AN ALREADY-LIVED-IN HOME

Formal greeting
Once you have chosen the house, ‘introduce’ yourself as you would to a new friend. Choose the wording that’s heartfelt, even if it sounds a little silly. BELIEVE that you are going to be happy there and that you are very much looking forward to living there.

Getting to know your new home

You should try spending some time alone in your new home before moving your belongings in. Walk around and ‘feel’ the spirit of your home and pay attention to the feelings, thoughts, and images you get in each room. You can even have a wonderful meditation connecting to your home spirit!!

Visualize how you’re going to use each room. Walk around and ‘see’ what’s happening in each room- happy, healthy children running around laughing, friends having a wonderful evening in the living room...... Try to sleep in your home before ‘moving in’. Your dreams may offer a wealth of information regarding your new home. It isn’t necessary that you remember those dreams either- you subconscious mind will act upon them without you even realizing it!

HOUSE CLEARING AND CLEANSING

Completely clean the house from top to bottom BEFORE you move in!  The walls, the floors, windows, doors- everywhere!  Remember you're getting rid of not only dirt, but the 'thought atmosphere' and energy left behind after the last occupants.  Do a thorough c'house clearing'.  Unpack all your belongings and then clean them with loving thoughts, so that their energy benefits your new home.  (you can do this while packing up your stuff before moving too).

GIVING YOUR NEW HOME A NAME

In ancient metaphysics giving something a name meant you were to form an intimate connection with it. To find your home's name- go to the heart of the home (you'll have to wander around until you find the spot that feels like the house's heart- the spot where you feel the most love). Sitting in this area, go into meditation and connect with your home, imagining it to be a person with a himan form, feelings and a real personality. Lovingly ask it's name (as you do when meeting guides) If you don't get a name in words, but rather a feeling or an image- put name to that. If you use your home's name and relate to it, the overall energy will be more positive and powerful.

MOVING IN

Many ancient traditions celebrated 'moving-in' with a special ceremony, choosing auspicious days when the ceremony would be performed (according to astology, etc...) The best thing is to create your own 'moving-in ceremony' according to your own beliefs. The important thing is that you mark and honour the day as being the start of a new cycle in your life. Make it special, form a strong connection with your home from the beginning!

USING WATER TO ACTIVATE CHI

Using water is a powerful way to activate 'chi'- get the energy moving in and around your home!  Water in the garden is great- be it a bird bath, swimming pool, fountain, pond, etc... There are however, certain things one should keep in mind when adding any water feature:

  • A water feature in your front garden should always be placed to the left of the house as you look out the front door- it will enhance wealth and prosperity. If placed to the right one could suffer martial problems.
  • Water in the back garden is good BUT should not be too large as this will create too much 'ying' chi and the occupants of the house may suffer as a result. If it's a swimming pool, try to keep the shape smooth, ie- not square or rectangular with sharp corners (as these 'corners' create poison arrows which them 'aim' back at your home) If you already have a pool that shape, camoflauge the corners with potted plants. Same goes for other water features or containers in the garden.
  • Keep the water clean and flowing. Stagnant water produces 'sha' chi and brings bad luck.

CREATING ABUNDANCE

Once you’ve got rid of all the excess that’s been pulling you down, and given your home a gopod 'spring-clean' also remove anything from your home that reminds you of a lack of money, love, health- anything that to you symbolizes poverty, obstacles, confrontation, problems- anything that has bad memories attached to it.
THEN- create an air of luxury throughout your home. This need not cost a fortune- you need to pamper your senses and appeal to your own sense of ‘luxury’. Visit second hand markets....

In your entrance hall you could add a lush, healthy plant, a beautiful table lamp or perhaps a pluch rug.  Throw a richly coloured throw over your sofa in your living room and add lots of plump cushions.  Create an invitinbg scent by burning essential or perhaps a cosy corner to curl up with a good book in.  In the kitchen consider not only buying, but actually USING good quality ingredients- a couple of bottles of good wine on the wine rack, fresh garlic, potted herbs on the windowsill...(and use that special china- don't let it gather dust- make every day a 'special' ocassion).  In the bedroom- cushions, coloured or dimmed lighting, candles, a beautiful colour on the walls.  In the bathroom a couple of luxury items- some nice bubble bath and loofah, a pile of fresh towels at hand....

Above all remember to appeal to your sense of luxury, not somebody else’s.
Play with colour, texture, lighting, sounds....use your imagination and have fun!!

RELEASING NEGATIVITY

To bring anything ‘new’ into your life you need to get rid of the old- let go of things that aren’t working for you. Start in your home by literally throwing away / donating / selling stuff that’s just not working for you anymore- stuff an ex-lover gave you, broken things, things you’re hanging onto out of habit, that horrible ornament a relative gave you, things you keep ‘just in case’- get rid of the things in your home that constitute clutter and you not only release the negativity attached to them BUT make room for BETTER things to come. Same goes for emotional baggage (if you can work through it that is-for example staying in a toxic relationship doesn’t allow any space for a better one to come along...) Surround yourself with things, situations and people you really LOVE, that inspire and uplift you, these things and people will create good energy which in turn will help create the life you dream of.

YOUR BED AND HOW IT AFFECTS YOU

Did you know that the type of bed you have can affect you?

  • A metal bed frame is not good option as it conducts electromagnetic energy and you may not be getting quality sleep, especially if you have a lot of electirical cables in the bedroom (alarm clock, lamps, TV, etc...)
  • A four poster bed may cause congestion problems and make if difficult to get out of bed in the mroning. It has a suffocating effect, especially if it's made from heavy wood and has elaborate draping.
  • A futon, although natural and good in that sense, is too close to the ground and the 'cold energy' from floor and underfloor wiring can cause heart problems and dust-related allergies.
  • Water beds lack solid foundation needed in a bed, leaving you feeling as though you lack support in your life.
  • The ideal bed should be made of natural material which can breathe and have a headboard.
